Mark Altermann

Mark Altermann is a doctoral researcher whose work focuses on climate resilience, youth engagement, and applied approaches to disaster risk reduction. His research integrates participatory methodologies, design thinking, and visual storytelling to explore how youth understand and respond to climate change, with an emphasis on communication, critical reflection, and civic engagement.

His doctoral project, Images Into Action, is situated within the ResilienceByDesign (RbD) Lab at Royal Roads University and examines how visual narratives can support climate awareness and action. His work contributes to emerging practices in interdisciplinary research, knowledge mobilization, and community-based climate adaptation.

In addition to his research, Mark is an educator at Seneca Polytechnic and President of Phyton Research and Development, where he leads initiatives focused on resilience, climate adaptation, and innovative technologies. His professional background includes over three decades in policing and public service, including emergency management and community-based prevention initiatives
