Story: The full impact of climate change is uncertain. Even though we don’t always know what’s over the next rise or around the next corner, uncertainty is no excuse to not act. We must move forward because any progress is better than waiting until it’s too late to act at all.

Story: This image is important to me because I go by it every day on the bus and it shows me how normal these structures have become. Even though these facilities power our lives, they also impact the climate. I feel torn between dependence, and the need for a shift to cleaner energy solutions.

Name: Sharing the Road

Story: After I took this picture, I thought about the space between the natural environment and humans. How do we share space with nature so that all animals, including us, can thrive.

Name: Living Walls
Caption: A building covered in plants and greenery.
Story: This building is unique in my city because it works with nature instead of against it. I think about how different a greener climate-adapted city could look if we combine nature with concrete and glass. I hope to see more of this.

Name: Left Behind
Caption: A rusting shipwreck on the shore.
Story: I saw this wreck on vacation last summer. The weather and waves made me think about the eroding coastline, but the shipwreck makes me wonder who cleans up the mess we leave behind? What can I do to prevent creating more shipwrecks that my kids will have to clean up?

Name: Breathing Earth
Caption: Steam rises from the mouth of a geyser.Story: I find the power of the Earth amazing and this geyser makes me think about how nature provides sources of energy that in many places remain untapped. I am hopeful that renewable energy can help to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
