Project Update 1: Youth Advisory Group Recruitment Now Open

We are excited to share that Images Into Action is officially underway.

The project is currently in its initial phase, and we are actively recruiting youth (ages 15–25) to join the Youth Advisory Research Group. This group will play a central role in shaping the direction of the project — helping to guide how climate-related images are gathered, interpreted, and transformed into meaningful visual stories that support dialogue and action.

This research explores how youth understand and communicate climate change and climate action through photography and storytelling. The Youth Advisory Group will collaborate in workshops, contribute ideas about outreach strategies, assist in thematic image analysis, and help ensure that the final visual stories authentically reflect youth perspectives.

We are especially looking forward to working alongside engaged, thoughtful, and creative young people who are interested in climate issues, communication, community impact, and leadership.

Participation

Our preference is to conduct workshops and interviews in person, as face-to-face collaboration can deepen discussion, creativity, and connection. However, we recognize the importance of accessibility and inclusion. Virtual participation is absolutely an option, particularly for those in smaller, rural, or remote communities. The time commitment for youth would be about 5-6 weeks in length (depending on their availability). The initial workshops will set the research direction, there would be a short break (a few weeks) to collect images, then meet to analyze and discuss the final images and stories that will for the visual story deck.

If you are part of a school, youth organization, or community group that may be interested in collaborating, we would be pleased to explore what participation could look like in your setting.
